200 Degrees Coffee Liverpool Review – eating out as alkaline plant based foodie

food and drink, gifted – all images and opinions my own.

I won’t lie, the diet I’ve put myself on doesn’t make eating out easy. That is kind of sad, because I love eating out, food is life <3.

Doing what I do, organic options are best, minimal caffeine, and all of the plants are staples, so it can be hard to pick anything off the menu that isn’t just a bowl of leaves. I will relax my diet a bit when I do go out, but not so far that I eat crap.

It was very kind of 200 Degrees to do their research about me before I visited, I had a tear in my eye at the kindness of this note.

That was nothing compared to the huge selection of food that was brought out for us to try – almost the entire vegetarian and vegan menu options, including breakfast dishes!

My two favourite savoury options were the beetroot and hummus sandwich, and the vegan mozzarella and tomato croissant. The salad trio was delightful too, all veggie options there, just one is not vegan. I’ve had some really dodgy experiences eating out recently, I was served a slice of pepper with nothing at all else on bread at another restaurant that was supposed to be a vegan sandwich on an afternoon tea selection – so 200 Degrees really suited my needs.

On an alkaline diet, coffee is best consumed in moderation as it is “acid forming”. If you really do want it though, organic and fresh is best. 200 Degrees had my back here – with their selection of plant milks, I was able to get my caffeine fix.

If you’re after something cold and fresh, the smoothies are nothing short of delicious and nutritious – no crap, made just for you when you order.200 Degrees prides itself on being more than a quick take away franchise, the atmosphere and different brewing processes, are all about the experience of relaxing and enjoying a coffee alone or with friends. Thats not to say they don’t do take away, indeed they do, but expect a bit of a nicer service than your name misspelt on a cheap cup. They’re trying to do good for the environment too, selling reusable cups, and using the best biodegradable straws I’ve ever seen. They’re what I’d call plaper, or papstic, not mushy paper straws that crumble like a cheap biscuit in a brew, but firmer and stronger like a plastic one.

The brand get their name from the unique way their coffee is made, not as hot as traditional brews – it makes ALL the difference! No bitter burnt edge to your cuppa, and no skinned tongue like a coffee from McDonalds either.

If you’re looking for an atmospheric and relaxed coffee experience where your dietary needs are catered to, 200 Degrees is the place to go, I can’t wait to head back.
