A few weeks back, I posted about trying to find no nasties skincare that’s both affordable and easy to find. I found myself in Boots with a basket full of goodies, including some of their own brand organic skin care range.
The Botanics range is not all 100% organic, but most things do contain a high amount of organic ingredients which is great because the less toxins we use the better. I always say “do as much as you can, as best as you can, that is enough”. For me right now, buying this affordable range which isn’t 100% pure and natural (it also isn’t vegan or cruelty free), that works for me.
The first items I tried from the range are, the Hot Cloth Cleaner (97% organic), the Super Balm (93% organic), and the Facial Oil (100% organic).
I have purchased the oil in the past before and I really enjoyed using it, I have always been one of those people though, who always buys new brands and products to try even when I have products I love. I think now I have to shop more carefully, I’ll have to buy some favourites over and over. I love it, it is so nourishing and soft, it doesn’t sting my eyes like I’ve found with some oils, the scent is really subtle and not synthetic at all. I like to use this before bed purely because I prefer to use an oil at night, though this is quite absorbent and isn’t heavy on my skin.
The Super Balm really is super, it has a buttery texture which is a little bit bitty but that melts when massaging it in. Since changing my diet my skin is actually really clear and not problematic at all, but of course the weather and environment can still dry it out. I do get a little bit dry in places on my face, but my neck gets particularly dry. I have powered through this little pot of goodness, I love an intense, thick moisturiser, so the greasiness of this is ideal for me, it absorbs really quite quickly, and leaves me with an inside out glow. The greasiness is lovely in my opinion, it is not thick at all, just really healthy feeling and I haven’t noticed any pore clogging. I”ve been out and bought another this week.
I have always preferred a cleansing balm to micellar water for removing makeup because it doesn’t take long and feels like a deeper clean. This one is really really good, it melts make up off really quickly you can do it just once to get a full face off in one go. It feels heavy on the skin when massaging it in, but rinses off easily and does not leave behind a heavy residue. Unlike some hot cloth cleaners it does not come with a muslin cloth, but it’s so affordable and works so well who cares. I don’t tend to use balms like this just to cleanse my makeup free skin, thats just my preference but it can be used just to cleanse bare skin if you like.
My skin is glowing using this range, and my purse is not too damaged either. I ran through the super balm so quickly, I went back for more. This range is on 3 for 2 this week, so naturally I bought more to try! I picked up the eye cream and softening cleanser. I will use this probably daily of a morning and save the hot cloth cleanser for makeup removal only.
