AD – Soil Organics, Organic Essential Oils Review

I LOVE Lavender, I’ve never really ventured in to essential oils though for health and wellness. Mostly, I have used lavender scents for relaxation, the odd bit of tea tree on spots but not much else. Until I started to explore the other health benefits of using high quality pure essential oils. I jumped at the chance to receive some items from Soil Organics, they allowed me to pick my own favourite fragrances, and they sent over a selection of items from their range. Let’s dive in to Soil Organics organic essential oils range.

Benefits of Essential Oils

Aromatherapy (using scents as therapy), has been practised for thousands of years, the word aromatherapy wasn’t established until 1937. There is a vast array of history regarding the use of essential oils and aromatherapy going back centuries, with some of the most influential figures such as Hippocrates exploring and enjoying the benefits of the scents and properties of the oil. Some essential oils can be used just for smelling in order to relieve unpleasant symptoms such as anxiety, headaches or nausea, other oils can be applied topically to reduce redness, calm a burn, or stop an unsightly spot from growing any further.

About Soil Organics

“SOiL was born out of our family managed, organic essential oil farming operation in Zululand. It is here that we have been growing and distilling aromatic plants for their precious oils since 2001. SOiL was the first company in South Africa to sell a complete range of 100% certified organic essential oils, many of which have been grown on our organic farm in Zululand. We also launched South Africa’s first line of certified organic massage oil blends and carrier oils.” Sounds gorgeous , right? I know it does not matter so much what matters most in the product, but a few things about a company always make a difference to me, that is how accessible and pleasant the website is to use, and good customer service. SOiL provide both, I think it’s very important for websites to be accessible, easy to read and easy to navigate, THUMBS UP!

The Review

I was sent over a few lovely items, an essential oil burner, a lavender roll on, plus a bottle of lavender oil and a bottle of Frankincense oil. Maybe I’ve just never purchased premium oils before, and the ones I have had haven’t smelt like they should. What I mean is, the fragrance of the lavender and frankincense from SOiL is much more earthy than other oils i have smelt, doing some research it appears thats how they’re supposed to smell, rather than an overpowering strong fragrance. Thats not to say the smell isn’t strong, or the fragrance doesn’t last but it definitely has undertones of earthiness, I like it! The fragrances blend well together, particularly for use in the oil burner, that combination is my favourite for helping me to relax and sleep. I really like the shape of the hole in the oil burner, as others tend to be very shallow and small, this burner can be used with a larger candle, for longer burn time. Though it is recommended for use with a carrier oil, I am not afraid to see what happens when I apply it directly to my skin, so thats what I did. Lavender is a powerful antibacterial, this bottle has saved me from having some pimples get out of hand recently! I read that razor bumps can be treated with Frankincense, so after I shower I applied sone diluted in coconut oil. It definitely soothed but visibly made little difference. The lavender roll on hasn’t left my side, it’s been so handy to keep in my bag and use whenever I feel a headache coming on, or some anxiety I can use this in combination with other things to get some relief. In comparison to some other brands, the price is a little higher, but that will be because of the nature and quality of the oils.
